Each mode has its own flow. Timing difficulty remains a separate setting inside the selected mode.
Technical titles are simplified in the picker but remain searchable.
Practice setup
Manouke chooses a rhythm from the selected material level and starts it at the recommended tempo. Listen & Play is the guided default: each new rhythm and retry plays the reference, then starts count-in and Your turn automatically. Manual keeps Listen (L) / Your turn (Space) available; Try again returns to the same rhythm so you choose what happens next. BPM stays adjustable after the session starts.
Challenge setup
Challenge is a short closed test. Each rhythm uses its recommended starting tempo and gives exactly one cold attempt: no Listen reference, no Retry, and no BPM changes during the run. Timing difficulty is fixed when the Challenge starts.
Tempo Ladder setup
Tempo Ladder keeps one rhythm across the run. Leave Custom target empty to use the rhythm's recommended max. A custom target can also be below the recommended start: in that case the ladder begins lower and climbs to your goal. It may also go above the conservative recognition/scoring range; the recommended start/max stay unchanged as reference facts and above-range attempts are recorded as calibration evidence. Manouke plays the reference once at the first tempo, then gives one attempt at each of up to five tempos. There is no Retry and no manual BPM change during the run. Timing difficulty stays fixed.
Survival setup
Survival is an endless cold-attempt run. You start with 3 lives; every rhythm with all targets GOOD-or-better survives, while any EARLY, LATE or MISS costs at most one life. Three fully PERFECT rhythms in a row earn one bonus life up to 4. Tempo pressure follows the existing Tempo Ladder plan and never exceeds the stored recommended max.
Use End Survival & save run when you want to leave the run so its end reason is preserved in History.
Enable the microphone, calibrate your clap/tap/pluck, then listen once and repeat the rhythm.
Input calibrationCalibrate once per microphone / clap-tap-strum setup. A successful profile is stored only in this browser and restored after reload; use Recalibrate input when the sound source, microphone or room conditions change. Calibration learns a short room baseline, captures 5 explicitly armed target hits and validates 3 armed target hits. During the game, sounds outside expected timing windows are ignored.

Ready
Move together before the attack, contact exactly on the canonical target, then rebound.
Your turn uses your microphone after the count-in, but does not create a score or save an attempt. Try alone keeps this rhythm and BPM, then hands you to normal scored Free Play.
The empty first bar is the count-in. Bass, comp/mid and treble attacks are merged into one timing target. Only sounds near expected target times can score; extra/noise events elsewhere are ignored for now. Pump, stroke-direction and accent marks are intentionally hidden.
